Living Life

On a career hunt. I have 8 months to figure out what I want to be when I grow up and then find a job. I'm not sure if that's enough time!

October 7, 2009
So glad Joseph is home! I love that he can spend the night with grandma but I sure miss him! He was hillarious tonight too, I was singing shake, shake, shake, shake, shake, shake, shake your bootie and then Joseph says "bootie" in his cute little baby voice.

Enjoyed a fun weekend! We went to the harvest festival and it was really fun except Joj fell and scraped his lip. I think I was more upset about it than he was. He got to wear a little skeleton outfit and looked absolutely adorable!

Missing Joj since he's spending the night at Grandma and Granpa's

Should be applying to jobs at Children's Hospital, but instead wasting time on here. Can't wait for Thanksgiving, Joseph can finally be around his cousins!!!

I just got accepted as the shipping coordinator for An Orphan Smiles! It's all online so that's even better. :)However, I didn't get the paid position at the Ohio Coalition for Deafblind Education so I guess the job search is still on :(
hopes everyone had a wonderful Christmas! It's so amazing how much different it is when you have a little to celebrate it with. And it's so wonderful to have Santa come back in your life!
The terrible 1 and 1/2 s have set in!!!!

Just put away the Christmas decorations. That always makes me a little sad.

Our first trip to Chuck-E-Cheese today. It wasn't as cool as I remember it being.

Halloween

Anyone have any good (cheap) costume ideas for Halloween? Joj is going to be a pirate and last year he was a chilie pepper and Jim and I were Mexicans.

Heart

by Kristy Tayloe DiGiacomo on Saturday, September 19, 2009 at 10:16pm ·

Finally, I have news for a Joj update! His ear tubes were a success. They were put in at Children's hospital this past Thurs. Sept. 10. Since those are now done, we were able to schedule his heart surgery. It will be Wed. Oct. 21 at 8 am. Thank-you to everyone for all your love and support. I know it seems like this will never end (at least it does to us) but hopefully the next update I send will simply be saying everything went splendidly.
So besides the pending surgery, Joseph is doing spectacular. He is soo close to walking! Everyday he takes more and more steps. He is still a little peanut, but that certainly does not stop him! He is constantly in motion and now loves chasing the cats and Zoey (grandma's dog). His absolute favorite things are BALLS, trucks and cars, rocks, anything with animals and Yo Gabba Gabba (although Uncle Chad claims this is because I like the show so much, which I do, but Joj is enthralled with it) and did I mention balls? Joseph can say "hi" extremely well and will say it to anyone walking into the room. He can say that a cow says "moo" and that a cat says something sort of like meow, and a dog says (well he just blows but close enough). Oh and of course he can say "ball," and he's almost mastered bubbles although sometimes it comes out bubs. He is truly a happy baby and has us laughing with him all the time.
I still haven't decided what to have Joj dress up as for Halloween, but I'm leaning towards Frankenstein (the outfit is adorable), a monkey, or a lion. I will take input on this matter!
Well, hope this is a good Joj fill for ya, and again we appreciate all your prayers headed Joj's way on Oct 21.
Love,
Kristy and Jim and Jojermojer

Watching a very...disturbing? South Park. I decided to take work off until Joj's surgery to avoid any sicknesses so nothing gets rescheduled. We're getting pretty nervous but staying positive. Unfortunately, we found out that only immediate family can visit Joj in the hospital but I guess that will encourage people to come visit us at home when we may need more suport.

Things are finally getting back to normal! Joseph's surgery went very well and just 8 days after it, he was helping with the trick-or-treaters. It's amazing how quickly kids bounce back. He has been so super cute!

Missed Friendships

Just laughed harder than I have in a long time watching Chad fall on his butt

Kristy doesn't have facial hair, but she does totally have chest hair. HOT! — with Kristy Tayloe DiGiacomo.

Old Pictures

The pictures with the black flower shirt I had just found out that I was pregnant with Joseph. These pictures were from our friend Ryan Cook's wedding. The other picture is from vacation in Sea Isle City, New Jersey, the year before we had Joseph.

Some Old Posts

31...I feel old and young at the same time. There's nothing better than having a little boy be so happy it's your birthday. About every hour I am asked, "Mommy is it still you're birthday?" When I reply yes he gets all shy and practically whispers, "Happy Birthday Mommy."

The other day we had an appointment for Blake for the ENT. They called us back and Joseph walked up to the nurse first. She said, You're not Blake are you? Joseph says, "No he's the one whining." He cracks me up!!!

First cuss word...Joseph outside playing with a tennis ball and badminton racquet.
Joseph having trouble hitting the ball: Dammit! Dammit!
Me: What did you just say?!!!
Joseph: Dammit.
Me: Do you even know what that means?
Joseph: Yes. It means I can't hit the ball.
Me: (laughing hysterically and not looking at Joseph, after some time to recompose myself) where did you hear that word?
Joseph: I think from the sky.
Me: (again after a few minutes, to quell the giggles) that's not a nice word, you shouldn't say it
Joseph: Ok
Then while he was going to bed he was sing-songing to bed, Dammit, dammit.
James DiGiacomo I totally blame you for this one!!!

Bottle of Joy #2: Watching the boys splash and laugh in the tub after getting squeaky clean #bottleofjoy
Bottle of Joy #1: Joseph was coloring the lid to the sandbox I said that looks pretty cool. Joseph said Daddy will be impressed #bottleofjoy

Mom confession #1: I sometimes use TV as a babysitter so I can clean up. #momconfessions
As we r walking to bad frog fro yo in olde dublin joseph aall of a sudden says this is where we should do halloween...I have no idea what he was talking about, maybe the brick sidewalks? Then as we r sitting on the bench eating he says, "In a long day I'm going to be a police officer and be in charge of letting people cross the street and drive a police officer car." — with James DiGiacomo.

The last night of vacation is always bittersweet. Sad for it to be over but looking forward to sleeping in my own bed. We had a BLAST, especially spending time with family! I asked joseph before bed what his favorite thing this week was and he said, "spending time with my cousins."

We left this morning at 8:15 a little behind but not to bad for packing up the car. We stopped at the bank and I realized I forgot my phone. We looked everywhere. I kept hearing it buzz but could NOT find it...it was in my pocket. 8:45 back on the road. 9:15 Blake pukes. 11 we stopped for lunch and it took an hour because i had to get cleaning spray and air freshener. We didn't make it to penn until 6. We had planned on 4:30. We at least will have some good stories to tell.

Joseph's quote of the day: We were talking about what he wanted to be when he grew up and he was playing basketball outside. So naturally he said he wanted to be a basketball player. When I asked what else he wanted to be he said a train and then he said a police officer. This was a first so I asked him what a police officer does and he said, "They sell cars."

4 exhausted DiGiacomo's + 1 exhausted grandpa tayloe, but had an awesome day riding Thomas the train!!!

Joseph's quote of the day:
(I was leaving to take Blake to the doctor so I had him in the car and ready when Jim got home and Jim just walked in to take over, so I am posting this on Jim's behalf.)
Jim enters room.
Joseph: Daddy, did any of the teachers at work tell you that you look handsome today.
Jim: Well no they didn't
Joseph: well why not?

Awesome St Patrick's Day! A little leprechaun turned our milk and lemonade green and then after naps (ok after playing in our cribs and beds for an hour) super fun St. Patrick's Party with super awesome people!!! Too bad Jim is in North Carolina and couldn't partake in the festivities. The boys had a blast! And I concocted a drink to rival the shamrock shake: green milk, hersey syrup, shot of peppermint schnapps (100 proof of course!), add ice and shake and pour.

Attention parents with more than 1 child: HELP!!!!!! I took Joseph to gymnastics for the first time tonight and Jim had to referee dodge ball at his school and Blake was AWFUL!!!! He was screaming and crying. I tried EVERYTHING! I brought toys, drinks, I tried walking him around, all he wanted was to go in where Joseph was. Joseph never acted like this (granted he never had to miss out big brother fun either) but I don't know what to do when we go out. At one point, Blake was literally lying on the floor kicking and screaming. I was getting lots of dirty looks and eye rolling. Any advice would be much appreciated!!!!

I was putting Joseph to bed and he asked me to tell him a story about Thomas (the train). So I started a story.
Me: ...and Annie and Clarabell were so excited that they cheered and clapped that Thomas was so fast. And Thomas went over the big, big bridge and...
Joseph (interrupting): Annie and Clarabell don't have arms.

I was cuddling with joseph with him and my face was close to his and he kept moving. I thought my hair was tickling him, so I said sorry my hair is tickling you and he said I don't like your steam.

This morning joseph wanted toast for breakfast. After a couple bites he called me in to take off the crust. I pulled it off and left it on his napkin as I pulled off the rest. I was getting ready to pick it up to throw it away when he picked the crust up and ate that! I guess it just goes to show our preconceived notions are not always our kids!

So I know jim's been posting things but I never posted that Blake Thomas DiGiacomo was born on dec 16 @ 3:14pm. He weighed 9lbs 14oz and was 21 1/2 in long (and he was two weeks early!!) I went in at 7:30am with very mild contractions, they broke my water at around noon and at 3 and two pushes later he was born!!! And I got to have the epidural this time!!!!!

Haven't been on here in forever!!! Everytime I would try to get on with my iPod it wouldn't work. So we found out that it's a boy!!!

Busy Day

Busy day tomorrow: Blake's Mommy and me class, blake's speech evaluation (2 hours), lunch, nap for Blake play for Joseph and work (my at home marketing job) for mommy, go to tutoring job, dinner, jim's tutoring, kids bed, then some more work.

Bottle of Joy

Tonight was a bit of a rough night with the boys. I have a cold so my patience isn't what it should be. After Jim and I taking turns dealing with our little noodles, it was time for bed. Jim started putting Blake to bed but then I finished. As I was sitting with Blake after singing songs, I was rubbing my eyes. He pointed to me, I said yeah Blake Mommy doesn't feel good, my head hurts, and nose hurts and throat hurts. He then turned to face me and planted a huge kiss on my forehead. Then he put his hand on my cheek and cuddled into me. As hard as being a parent can be, it is so worth it for moments like that.

Holiday season

This holiday season has been wonderful (and busy)! The Saturday before Christmas we had Christmas at TJ and Ally's with Dad. The boys loved it! Then on Sunday we had Christmas with mom. On Monday we left for the DiGiacomo's and spent Christmas Eve there. Of course Santa knew where we would be so the boys came down to a ton of presents. Then the Matthews came and John and Riley. The boys had the greatest time playing with their cousins. Ryan and Joseph buddies up and Blake played with Giana a lot. The Matthews also stayed until Thurs so they had a lot of time to play together. Jacob and Frankie enjoyed playing games with me and Julie. Joj and Blake didn't sleep great, but other than that they were awesome!!!
Ryan at one point told Joseph he was lucky to have him as a cousin and Joseph said I'm lucky to. When they were leaving ryan said I'm sure going to miss you Joseph. They had such fun together. Giana and Blake wee little buddies too, g even took a bathe worth the boys. We returned on thurs and chilled. On sat mom came and spent the night and we went to zoo lights. It was cool because it was so snowy. It snowed on we'd quite a bit and then again on fri. Sun we went to church and I went to kohls with mom. Mon was New Year's Eve and we took the boys sledding at the hills near kohls parking lot. They had a blast!!!! Joseph loved it! I kept crashing, and when I finally did make it down I ran down Joseph and he ended up on the rest of the ride with me and Blake. Today is New Year's Day and we just got home from spending he evening with tj and ally.

A funny antidote: Joseph has been terrible about staying in bed. He got up and went to the bathroom, on his way back to bed jim was standing there monitoring and Joseph walked past the mirror. Then he went back to it saying wit I need to see myself in the mirror. When he saw his reflection he said myself looks good! Ha!

Keeping track

I used to write down every night what happened that day. I know that our memories stay better when we are reminded more than once. So by writing it down, I remember again, and then I read it and then remember again, in the hopes that some of my memories will stick with me. I more than anything do not want to forget any moment with my boys and the fun times we have together. I have failed miserably in writing things down recently, so I am hoping that starting a blog will allow me to make notes whenever I think about it, since my computer never seems to be far away from me.
So here's what I missed that I can remember.

12/16/12 - Birthday!!!
Today was Blake's 2nd birthday. I can't believe he's two! I had a construction theme for him. I had an inside "sandbox" with rice in it and I bought little construction trucks for the kids to play with in it. It was unseasonably warm at low 50s so we probably could have even gone outside, but didn't. I made dirt dessert for the cake  and had traffic cones (cheddar bugles) and building logs (pretzel sticks). I made the office into tent and tunnel town and brought all the construction trucks and tools we had into the living room. The kids had reflector vests, hats, tool aprons, and goggles to choose from to wear. Trystyn, Gabe, and Lily were the kids that joined the boys in the festivities. Blake had a BLAST! He was so excited and such a ham. Joseph was more interested in opening the gifts than Blake was, but Blake was excited about the gifts. Uncle TJ and Aunt Ally got him a shopping cart which he LOVES and played with all night. We all had a great time.

12/15/12 - Dayton Flyers
Yesterday Joseph went to his first Dayton Flyers game with me, Jim and Uncle TJ. He was enthralled when we got there and a little timid. He only wanted me to hold him and to sit by him. We told him he could use his outside voice even though we were inside, but he didn't want to do it. He thought it was hilarious when Uncle TJ yelled BOO. He even had the girl in front of us laughing. At half time TJ took him around to check out the arena and that seemed to loosen him up. When he came back he was all into yelling and even wanted to sit on TJ's lap. He seemed to have a great time! Blake had a blast with Nina and was asleep when we came to pick him up.

12/14/12 - Kingdom of Bounce
Today was Joseph's last day of preschool before break. We brought the teachers little gifts which Joseph was super excited to hand out. Blake actually went in the child watch for a little bit which was nice. That night TJ and Ally came over and we went to the Kingdom of Bounce which had some bounce slides and mazes. Joseph LOVED it, but it took Blake quite awhile to warm up to it. I let him play some of the video games (the ones that were working) and he ended up getting the highest possible tickets on the Spongebob game twice so he was able to get 2 snakes and 2 parachute men. Then he started to want to go on the slides when it was almost time to go. But he did them a couple of times. Then we got a little snack because the pizza wasn't coming until 7. We got there late because of terrible traffic. Jim ended up leaving early because he wasn't feeling good and he was meeting Mike and Chad to see the Hobbit. The boys fell asleep on the way home.

12/13/12 - Basketball
I tutored tonight and Joseph had his last basketball class. I rushed home to get him and ate dinner really quick. The guy doing basketball didn't quite understand how to work with 3-5 year olds and was trying to do a game between the kids and parents, but he wasn't letting all the kids have a turn shooting so we left early. We went to Jeni's for ice cream because Jim tutored that night as well.

12/9/12 - Country Table
Mom had the boys overnight and met us at the church in West Jeff. Blake did pretty good. Doug had to take him to the back for the last 10 minutes but I didn't think he would last 5 so that's great. Then we went to eat at the Country Table in West Jeff and it was actually pretty good. Then Dad came over and we went out to eat at Red Lobster.

12/8/12 - 8 Year Anniversay
Tonight Jim and I went out for our anniversary. We went to the Short North and had dinner at the bar at Marcella's. Then we walked around a bit and ended up at MoJo Lounge. We were contemplating driving to Dayton, but decided it would be less tiring to just go see a movie instead. We went to the Arena Grand and saw Life of Pi. We had some time to kill so we went to the Ugly Tuna Saloona.

12/7/12 - Magic Mike
I went to book club today, but we opted to not read a book but have a cookie exchange and watch Magic Mike instead. I thought the movie was terrible, but it seemed everyone else did too. The cookies were delicious and I made my new favorite, Carmelitas, which were a huge hit.

12/3/12 - Firefly Play Cafe
I took the boys to Firefly Play Cafe this morning because a mom from the mom's group said she would be there. It was all moms with bitty babies, they were so cute. The boys had a blast and I was smart this time and packed their lunch. Unfortunately, we  had to leave because Joseph was making bad choices and bringing toys into the bounce house and so we left. But I think they were ready to go anyways.

12/4/12 - Graeter's
I took the boys to play at Graeter's this morning. I had my Meet-Up Mom Business meet there and then Hip Mamas met there too. The boys had so much fun! There were lots of kids there their age so they were super happy to be playing with the other kids. I really enjoyed talking to the other mom's too. I brought their lunch so they could get ice cream before we left and I didn't ruin their lunch.

12/1/12 - Breakfast with Santa
Today was the breakfast with Santa at Scioto. Jim had to proctor the ACT so he couldn't go, so mom came instead. The boys had a good time. They actually ate their pancakes and then Joseph wanted to go do the crafts while Blake wandered around. Then we saw Santa, which Blake wanted nothing to do with once he got up there. But Jospeh was happy to tell Santa he wanted dinosaurs for Christmas.
